Cinegraphia: Journal of Literature, Film, and Other Media

Art, text, and media are part of increasingly complex and proliferating systems and networks.  Cinegraphia: Journal of Literature, Film, and Other Media, an international journal published by the Sydney Literature and Cinema Network, explores the cutting edges of diverse textual, creative, and media-based intersections and synergies.

Its basic mission is to trace the aesthetics and politics of traditional and new media forms, inviting contributions on cinema, literature, television, digital media, graphic media, audio, and their myriad relational possibilities. Cinegraphia: Journal of Literature, Film, and Other Media maintains rigorous intellectual and scholarly peer-review standards, and invites contributions from scholars, creative practitioners, and industry personnel.

To make a submission, please follow the link below to Cinegraphia's Open Journals Site. We accept journal articles, interviews, and reviews. Cinegraphia uses MLA as its default referencing style. 

Vol. 1 No. 1 (2025): Approaching Extinction: Anthropological and Environmental Encounters in Literature and Cinema

This first issue begins to outline just such a project, in its focus on how the Anthropocene and the climate crisis have been ‘written’ by filmic practices and narrative formations. At the core of the issue is a cluster of articles that emerged from the fifth Caméra-Stylo conference – the biennial forum that is the major ‘event’ platform for the Sydney Literature and Cinema Network, just as Cinegraphia is the Network’s publishing outlet – in 2023. Presented under the auspices of the “Approaching Extinction” thematic, these articles consider the climate emergency through various generic frames and ways of thinking.
